Aleris International, Inc. is engaged in aluminum recycling and the production of specification alloys and common alloy sheet. The Company also recycles zinc and manufactures zinc oxide and zinc dust in the United States. Aleris International offers customers a range of metals recycling services and specification alloy products through its aluminum and zinc production facilities, which include both United States and international operations. During the year ended December 31, 2004, Aleris International processed 3.4 billion pounds of recycled metal, specification alloys and zinc products. Shipments of common alloy sheet products on a pro forma basis totaled one billion pounds during this time. Aleris International's business is organized into four operating segments: aluminum recycling, rolled products, international and zinc. On December 9, 2004, the Company and Commonwealth Industries, Inc. merged, and the Company changed its name to Aleris International, Inc.
